  • The sauce is INCREDIBLE; so delicious, it transported me to the restaurant. The instructions were perfect. This is now one of my favorite recipes of all time, and as I write this I’m making another shopping list to make this again tonight.
I am going to making the breading with potato starch (instead of flower) this time and see how that turns out.
The ONLY possible way someone could have issue with this recipe is by not following the instructions exactly as described.
    Thank you, SO much.

  • Very interested to try this as I absolutely LOOOOVE the Chili’s honey chipotle crispers. I’m wondering what kind of “Hot Sauce” to use? Is there a specific brand? Thank you,

  • Great recipe for moderately skilled cooks. I made this for a Bronco party so I doubled the recipe but quadrupled the chicken since ingredients and instructions are vague. Ended up with way more than enough batter and breading. I used peanut oil for the increased frying and tenderloins instead of breasts. Portions aside, this was a hit amongst my fellow Bronco fans and is definitely a new party menu item.

Just to quickly address some of the less polite comments, if you’re not using quality ingredients you won’t get the quality flavor. Don’t try and “cheat” this recipe or you might end up with “spicy ketchup”.

  • The sauce was repulsive, and the smell from it assaulted my nostrils so strongly that I immediately disposed of it. Terrible

  • Be kinda nice if the recipe mentioned how much chicken to use. Or am I missing it?

  • Disgusting. The honey Chipotle sauce is just sweeter slightly spicy ketchup. The breading and batter was not crispy even when adding corn startch. Basically you ruined fried chicken. Pretty sure everyone here is also a bot.

    • You must have never been to Chili’s. In case you haven’t read it, it’s a COPYCAT recipe which matches the “real” recipe of Chili’s. If your chicken was soggy, most likely your grease was not hot enough. And believe me this is not a bot. The replies are made by real people.

  • Made small batch of just the sauce for a belated Vday Brunch, chicken and waffles. Was delish. I didnt have chipotle powder, only cayenne. Cant wait to get some and make this again. Wish I could post a picture.

  • Oh wow….I made this and followed the directions and ingredients list to the T! This was a hit! Tastes just like it! Will certainly be doing it again…soon lol

  • I just did the sauce and it was WAY too hot, barely any sweet to it. And I only did one tablespoon of hot sauce. I added about another 1/3 cup honey and a tablespoon of brown sugar, and zested one lemon slice and let the lemon float around. Still very hot. Next time I’m only using 1 tablespoon chipotle and no hot sauce. Seems like all the right ingredients though.

  • I notice that adding a dash of BBQ sauce and a cup of brown sugar to the chipotle sauce gives it a sweet and zingy flavor more like that of Chili’s, also, for a thicker and crunchier batter I substituted milk with heavy whipping cream (or buttermilk). This recipe is amazing.
