Chili’s Honey Chipotle Chicken Crispers. Is the most popular copycat recipe on my site.

Ingredients:

For the Chipotle Sauce:

2/3 cup honey
1/4 cup water
1/4 cup ketchup
1 tablespoon white vinegar
2 tsp ground chipotle chile pepper powder
1/2 teaspoon salt
2 tbsp hot sauce

For the batter:

3 chicken breast
1 eggs beaten
1/2 cup milk
1/2 cup chicken broth
1 1/2 tsp salt
1/4 tsp black pepper
1/4 tsp paprika
1/4 tsp garlic powder
3/4 cup all-purpose flour

For the breading:

1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
1 1/2 tsp salt
3/4 tsp paprika
1/2 tsp black pepper
1/2 tsp garlic powder

Instructions:

Make honey-chipotle sauce by combining all ingredients in a small saucepan over medium heat until boiling.Reduce heat and simmer for 2 minutes, then remove from heat.

Heat the canola oil in the fryer to 350F. Whisk together all ingredients except the flour, after all combined then you add the flour.Make the breading by combining all ingredients in another pan.

When you are ready to fry the chicken, dip each piece of chicken into the batter. Lift the chicken out of the batter and let some of the excess drip off. Toss the chicken into the dry breading and coat completely. Drop the breaded chicken into the hot oil and fry for 4 minutes, or until golden brown.Remove chicken from oil and allow to drain on paper towels. When all the chicken tenders are done, drop them into a large glass or metal bowl. Pour the sauce over the top, and toss gently until all the chicken tenders are coated with the sauce.

The sauce was repulsive, and the smell from it assaulted my nostrils so strongly that I immediately disposed of it. Terrible

Be kinda nice if the recipe mentioned how much chicken to use. Or am I missing it?

Disgusting. The honey Chipotle sauce is just sweeter slightly spicy ketchup. The breading and batter was not crispy even when adding corn startch. Basically you ruined fried chicken. Pretty sure everyone here is also a bot.

Made small batch of just the sauce for a belated Vday Brunch, chicken and waffles. Was delish. I didnt have chipotle powder, only cayenne. Cant wait to get some and make this again. Wish I could post a picture.

I just did the sauce and it was WAY too hot, barely any sweet to it. And I only did one tablespoon of hot sauce. I added about another 1/3 cup honey and a tablespoon of brown sugar, and zested one lemon slice and let the lemon float around. Still very hot. Next time I’m only using 1 tablespoon chipotle and no hot sauce. Seems like all the right ingredients though.

I notice that adding a dash of BBQ sauce and a cup of brown sugar to the chipotle sauce gives it a sweet and zingy flavor more like that of Chili’s, also, for a thicker and crunchier batter I substituted milk with heavy whipping cream (or buttermilk). This recipe is amazing.

Can the egg be substituted with something else?
I just ran out and I dont see myself running out for eggs only.
Any suggestions for something common already in the cabinet or fridge?
Any big difference with the outcome if no egg or substitute?
Cant wait to try this!
Thanks in advance

I’m the executive chef at Millstone Foods, LLC in West Palm Beach, Florida. Previously I was an executive private chef in some of the amazing private residential homes in Florida. Another words I was a full time chef for rich folks with a lot of money. I’ve never mastered crispy chicken like the ones you get at KFC. Although I hate KFC food, this recipe makes it like them with a lot of crisp on the chicken. I also never leave feedback, but this recipe using our Gluten Free Flour went beyond what we were expecting. Truly the best fried… Read more »

Thank you so much for posting this!! I just made it for dinner and it was AMAZING. I expected it to be pretty good, but I didn’t expect it to be SO close to the chili’s version. It’s the exact same thing! Sooo delicious.
