- 1 whole cabbage
- 5 strips bacon
- sausage of your choice
- 1 medium onion sliced
- 2 chopped garlic cloves
- 1/2 green bell pepper
- 1/2 red bell pepper
- 1/2 tsp Cajun seasoning
- 1 tbsp Vinegar
- 1/2 tsp Chicken bouillon powder
- 1/8 tsp Red crushed chili flakes
- 1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
Prep the cabbage by removing the core and cutting it into slices. The key here is to ensure we remove the core, as it can make the cabbage bitter. Also prep the bell peppers, onions, garlic, sausage, and bacon.

Start by searing the bacon until it renders its oil. After removing the bacon, add the sausage to the pan. Once its nicely browned, set aside.

Next, sauté the onions and garlic in that flavorful bacon fat. Adding bell peppers, season the mix with kosher salt and Cajun seasoning.

Now, it’s cabbage time! Add the cabbage in batches, allowing it to break down and sauté. As the cabbage cooks, let the water evaporate and fry it in the remaining oil. To amp up the flavor, add the vinegar, crushed red pepper, Bouillon powder and Worcestershire sauce. Finally mix in the cooked sausages and bacon, ensure everything is well combined. And there you have it – Southern fried cabbage is ready! This dish is so delicious that you can enjoy it on its own or add a dash of hot sauce for that extra kick.
